A
perfectly secluded hideaway with fabulous misty mornings
and sunset views over the Vale of Avalon and Wearyall Hill.
Tucked away off Bove Town, this lovely self-catering
house is only minutes on foot from the High St, the Tor
and Chalice Well. Ideal for a relaxing retreat or as a base
for exploring the town and further afield.
In
the early 20th Century, No 2 Coombe Terrace was the Cook’s
Cottage attached to “Mount Avalon”
- once the home of Rutland Boughton, composer of the famous
opera, The Immortal Hour. Sadly, this impressive Victorian
mansion burnt to the ground about 10 years ago but the strip
of six workers’ cottages has been preserved.
The
cottage is centrally heated and double-glazed and sleeps
1 – 4 people comfortably in 1 double bedroom and one
large double sofa bed. The dining area accommodates
up to four. The living area has two sofas – one of
which turns into a double bed - TV, DVD and hi-fi. A good
library of books is yours to peruse during your stay.
The
kitchen is fully equipped including gas cooker,
fridge and microwave. The bathroom has a shower over the
bath.
Outside,
at the front of the house, a small private west-facing garden
has outdoor seating for enjoying afternoon heat and spectacular
sunset skies.
Bedding
and towels are supplied. Secure bike storage is
available. This house is powered by green electricity.
